Is a banker position at a bank any value to me as I pursue m

Question: I work for a bank and I just started going to college to get an accounting degree. I was wondering if there was any better part time job I can get into. I know internships are very valueable but I have not taken enough classes yet to qualify for one.

Answer: I guess you mean a bank teller position.

A bank teller position will not do anything for your resume, if your career aspirations are accounting.

It doesn’t matter that you haven’t taken enough accounting classes, as long as you’ve taken basic Managerial Accounting then you can get a very basic internship. Try doing some basic cost or materials tracking for a small business, the local sandwich shop…mechanic…surf shop…local library…

You have to get a start somewhere doing something related to accounting. Every type of business needs some type of accounting.

Be sure to learn Advanced MS Excel and try to play with an MS Access database. Set one up with garbage data and see if you can write some insightful queries.
